Obituary for Marvin "Marv" Magers

Marvin "Marv" Magers passed away peacefully the morning on January 11, 2019 at the age of 87. Marvin leaves behind his wife of 64 years, Beverly, his two children, daughter Vickie Magers and son Greg Magers. He was the youngest of 12 children and was a beloved uncle, relative and friend. He was a giant of a man, who had great hugs, and a warm smile for everyone he met.

Marvin was born on July 16, 1931, at home in Sacramento to parents Archibald (Archie) and Iva Magers. He attended school in Lone Pine in Sacramento. Marvin Graduated from McClatchy High School and enlisted into the US Navy during the Korean War. Upon his return he went to work for Ayer's Drug Supply Company and then the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office, where he worked as a deputy, detective, and then sergeant for 25 years before retiring. He then went on to work for the Placer County Sheriff's Office for many years. Marvin always enjoyed meeting people and never on to just putter so in his 70's he was a shuttle driver for Auburn Toyota, finally retiring at age 80. Always together Marvin and Beverly loved to work on their home, enjoy its scenic views and travel. They spent many years traveling the U.S., Canada, Mexico, and Europe.

A celebration of Marvin's life will be held at 10:30am on Friday, February 1, 2019 at Lassila Funeral Chapel in Auburn. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the charity of your choice.
