Obituary for Arno Gin Gugler

Arno was born in 1942 in Los Angeles and grew up amongst a multitude of lively, close knit, aunts, uncles and cousins. His mother, Bernice, was one of 8 siblings; his father, George, was one of 10 siblings. He had a brother, George, and a sister, Darlene. By the age of 18, he began his lifelong career of printing, staying in that field until age 62. His real love was construction, especially framing. At age 31, he became a licensed general contractor and formed Gugler Construction Co. He did this alongside his printing career. His entire life he enjoyed building, remodeling, being out in the sunshine, shirtless, and creating something.
When Arno was 25 years old, his cousin Laura told him that her new friend, Denny, age 18 years, was the perfect girl for him. Aunt Margaret, Laura’s mother, adamantly disagreed saying Arno was way too wild for her, but they met anyways in November 1967 and both knew immediately this was it. They ran off to Vegas five months later and were married in May 1968. Lat May 2018, they celebrated their 50th Anniversary.
Their first child, Doug, was born in 1969, with daughter Erica following in 1971, Heidi born in 1973 and last of all Kendra born in 1978. Arno was so proud of all four of his children, their character, integrity, and work ethic. He enjoyed being involved in all their activities and getting to know their friends. He was sad when the last on graduated from high school and went away to college. He loved those years with them, but he also loved the adults they became, the lives they built, and the 12 precious grandchildren that came along. Since three of the kids moved out of state, it gave him the reason to finally get his dream truck, a Dodge diesel, and a fifth wheel. He and Denny enjoyed many years traveling to see the kids and other states, carrying their home and dog, Sunny, with them wherever they went.
In 2003, they moved to Foresthill. The first thing they looked for was a church family, and they found it in Calvary Bible Church. They had raised their family in Fullerton First Baptist Church in Southern California, forming deep friendships that last until this day. They were blessed to have found the same richness of fellowship in Calvary Bible Church.
Arno left printing at this time and got his last and favorite job working for the Sisters of Mercy as a maintenance supervisor of their various homes in Sacramento. He loved these ladies and enjoyed keeping their homes in good repair. Each day was a new challenge and he used all his skills acquired over his lifetime. His intention was to work until the day he died, and he did.
Arno’s strong faith and love for God was integral in who he was. He was eager to see what was to follow, and now he knows. He died of a sudden cardiac arrest, still strong and vital enough to put in a good day’s work. We are all so grateful for this and look forward to joining him. Thank you for sharing in celebrating the life of our beloved husband, father, and grandfather.

Love, Arno’s family
