Obituary for John William Marshall, Jr.

John W. Marshall, Jr. passed away on May 10 after years of fighting with Parkinson's Disease. John was born in 1937 in Arkadelphia, AK and raised in Gurdon, AK. Joined the Air Force where he served in Albuquerque, New Mexico and various bases. Owned a service station in Rancho Cordova, CA and later started his business Marshall Excavating, becoming well known in Roseville, Sacramento and Auburn areas, retiring after 30 years. Also owned a feed store in Meadow Vista for a period of time. He is survived by his wife Alixe, her two daughters Michelle and Patricia, and his seven children, Bret, Stacey, Craig, Laura, John, Ronald, and Douglas, and a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren. Also survived by three sisters, Wanda, June and EJ. Besides his business, he was involved with quarter horses, entering cutting and team penning competitions and owned a large number of quarter horses in Auburn, CA. Snow mobiling was enjoyed, as well as traveling across country, RVing and attending his High School reunions in Gurdon, AK. John was a 20 year member of Auburn Elks Club #1691. He wanted his friends and family members to know that he loved you all. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m., Wed., May 17, at Lassila Funeral Chapel, 551 Grass Valley Hwy, Auburn. In lieu of flowers, a donation to Parkinson Research Foundation
